The recent floods in Libya are a harsh wake-up call, showing that there are some serious ecological problems lurking within the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Apart from the expected increase in floods along the Mediterranean Sea, water shortage is a big issue that is putting the region's livability at risk. This problem is known as surface water stress. Annette joined IFG in July 2023. She has worked in international cooperation with long term assignments in Rwanda, India and Madagascar. For a Swiss development organisation she has been responsible for the programmes in Africa and Latin America. She gained experience in working in partnerships with civil society organisations, local governments and private sector for sustainable development. Programmes and projects in the field of Voice & Inclusion focused on the strengthening of democratic processes and social justice. Working for a just world, continues to be the driving force for Annette’s commitment.
