The General Assembly, thé yearly event gathering Green European Youth Parties, serves as a platform for passionate debates and inspiring exchange of ideas. During the GA, participants delved into a range of topics through Amendement Sessions, interactive panel discussions and workshops. Resolutions were fiercely debated, statutory matters were decided, and strategies for the upcoming European elections were discussed. Additional sessions included one on Green Cities and Mobility, as well as a support session for Ukraine, underscoring FYEG’s commitment to standing in solidarity with the nation.
Yet, it was not only a place for serious politics; from the moment they arrived, everyone shared accommodations in a bustling hostel, creating an atmosphere of togetherness that extended well beyond the congress walls. While the delegates dedicated their days to the crucial work of the GA, their evenings offered a chance to unwind and watch Eurovision Song Festival together, which forged lasting social connections.
IFG was represented at the GA by Elke, who took a train journey spanning over 13 hours to reach Barcelona. The event also saw active involvement from IFG partner organizations. IFG sponsored Oumaima El Khaili, representing the Moroccon Young Greens, contributing to making sure that the perspectives of young environmentalists from outside Europe were represented as well. Furthermore, members from other partner organizations attended and met, including those from Montenegro, Ukraine, Turkey, and Georgia.
As the General Assembly drew to a close, participants departed with a renewed sense of purpose and strengthened bonds. I look back on an incredibly intensive, but energizing trip, with a lot of fun and new impressions!
